A 40-year-old man has been charged with the homicide of a lady who went lacking a decade in the past.
Darren Osment will seem earlier than Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Thursday accused of murdering 32-year-old Claire Holland.
Ms Holland, from the Lawrence Weston space of Bristol, was final seen leaving the Seamus O’Donnell’s pub within the city-centre at 11.15pm on 6 June 2012, the day after the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend.
She was reported lacking just a few days later, and has not been seen or heard from since regardless of a number of mass searches and appeals for data.
Avon and Somerset Police stated Osment, of Chessel Drive, Patchway, South Gloucestershire, has been remanded in custody.
It comes as police investigators have been looking the Barrelhouse pub in Clifton, north Bristol, following “specific new information”.
Officers stated their search has no hyperlink to the venue’s present or earlier house owners.
Detective Superintendent Gary Haskins, head of the main crime investigation group, stated: “This is a pivotal moment in our investigation and we have updated Claire’s family now that a man has been charged with her murder.
“We’ll proceed to supply any help they could want by way of our specialist household liaison officer.”
Ben Samples, senior district Crown prosecutor with the CPS South West complicated casework unit, added: “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Avon and Somerset Police to charge Darren Osment with one count of murder.
“The authority to cost follows a posh investigation by the main crime investigation group, which was supported by the complicated casework unit.
“An extensive review of all the evidence gathered has led us to conclude that our legal tests to commence a prosecution have been met.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all involved that legal proceedings towards Darren Osment are energetic and that he has the suitable to a good trial.
“It is extremely important there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
