On the one hand, North Korea is claiming that not a single case of corona infection has been registered with it and on the other hand Kim Jong Un is reprimanding the authorities for negligence in the prevention of the virus.

North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un has strongly reprimanded his top officials for failing to control the coronavirus. The lack of control over the spread of the virus has created a ‘widespread crisis’ in the country. State media reports on Wednesday did not clarify what “critical” lapse Kim called a meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party’s politburo.
However, experts estimate that North Korea has failed in the fight against the epidemic. So far, North Korea has been claiming that despite testing thousands of people and having a somewhat open border with China, no one has been infected with the corona virus here.
Officers reprimanded for irresponsibility
However, experts are deeply skeptical of North Korea’s claim and have expressed concern that the health infrastructure in the country is not in very good condition, so controlling the epidemic will be a difficult task. State news agency Korean Central News Agency said that at the Politburo meeting, Kim criticized senior officials for their perceived incompetence, irresponsibility and inaction in planning and implementing plans to control the pandemic.
According to the news agency, Kim said that senior officials in charge of the country’s important affairs neglected the implementation of the party’s important decisions to take necessary organizational, institutional, scientific and technical measures for the emergency epidemic prevention campaign. He said that this created a big crisis in terms of the security of the country and the people and it had serious consequences.
Investigation of 733 people till June 10
North Korea told the World Health Organization (WHO) that it had tested more than 30,000 people for coronavirus as of June 10, but not a single case of infection has been reported in the country. The WHO said in a surveillance report that according to North Korea’s data, 733 people were tested from June 4 to June 10, of which 149 people were suffering from influenza-like illnesses or severe respiratory infections. Experts are skeptical of North Korea’s claim that it does not have a single case of infection, while its health infrastructure is very poor.
