“The Biden administration should send the vaccine to India,” said Myron Brilliant, head and executive vice president of international affairs at the US Chamber of Commerce.
Joe Biden
Pressure has been mounting on the administration of America’s President Joe Biden to send AstraZeneca Vaccine and other vaccines along with other life-saving medical supplies to India. This pressure on Biden is being made towards many sections of America. Those who make pressure include the powerful American Chamber of Commerce, MPs and eminent Indian-Americans. Significantly, at the present time India is struggling badly with the Corona crisis.
“Coronavirus is causing havoc all over the world,” said Myron Brilliant, head and executive vice president of international affairs at the US Chamber of Commerce. In such a situation, the US Chamber of Administration should send millions of AstraZeneca vaccine doses in stock, as well as other life-saving systems to India and Brazil battling Corona. The Chamber encourages the government for this. He said that these doses of vaccine will not be needed in America. It is estimated that the vaccine producers will make enough doses in early June for each American to apply the vaccine.
American Chamber’s statement came after Jaishankar’s appeal
Myron Brilliant said the move would strengthen US leadership on other fronts, including initiatives like Kovacs. He said that we work with partners from all over the world because no one is safe from the epidemic until we all are protected from it. The US Chamber of Commerce issued the statement following an appeal by Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, who had sought global help in the war against COVID-19.
America working closely with India on Corona crisis
US State Department Deputy Advocate Jalina Porter told reporters that the US was working closely with India to send the necessary supplies. It is also dealing with supply chain bottlenecks. Congress member Rashida Talib tweeted that the crisis of COVID-19 in India is a reminder that the global pandemic will not end until the whole world is safe from it. He said that President Biden should now support patent exemption to increase global production.
More than 3 lakh cases of corona reported in India
The Washington Post, in a major editorial, hoped that India would avert this disaster. Shekhar Narasimha, who raised funds for Biden’s presidential campaign, appealed to the US President to talk to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Significantly, 3.46 lakh new cases of coronavirus have been reported in India on Saturday, while 2624 people have died due to infection.
