Jia’s shop is the first sewing shop in Karachi, opened by a transgender woman. Jia has challenged the conservative society of Pakistan by opening a sewing shop for women and transgenders.

In Pakistan, many landlords hesitate to rent shop to transgenders. Jia told Reuters from ‘The Stitch Shop’ in the southern port city that she finally found a shop in New Market, which she opened in mid-April with two other trans women in March due to preparations for Ramadan.
Studied at all-boys school
The holy month of Ramadan, considered sacred in Islam, ends with Eid al-Fitr. On this occasion, people buy new clothes. This shop is the beginning of his ambition for Jia. She has studied at All-Boys School and learned sewing with the help of her fellow transgender women. He said that we want to expand this business.
