In Pakistan, a resolution was passed unanimously in Parliament on Monday condemning the ‘oppression’ being committed by Israel against the people of Palestine. At the same time, the United Nations was demanded to investigate human rights violations. According to Radio Pakistan, the country’s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi brought this proposal to the National Assembly.
The resolution strongly condemned the ‘systematic and institutionalized oppression’ of the people of Palestine by Israel. It condemned the attacks by the Israeli police on the Namazis in the Al-Aqsa mosque during Ramadan. At the same time, he also criticized the expansion of Israeli settlements by forcibly removing Palestinian families from their homes. The Radio Pakistan report said that the proposal condemned the deliberate destruction of buildings with local and international media outlets in Sheikh Jarrah and Jerusalem.
UN should take necessary action regarding Palestinians
This resolution, brought in the Pakistani parliament, confirmed unwavering support for the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people and the right to self-determination. Apart from this, the suggestion of two countries was also supported. At the same time, al-Quds al-Sharif was asked to support Palestine as a capital, as well as a free, safe and independent country. The House called on the UN Security Council to take necessary action to end the crimes against humanity against Palestinians.
OIC help Palestinian people
In this proposal, the ‘Organization of Islamic Cooperation’ (OIC) was asked to take immediate decisive steps for the protection of Palestinian people. It was also said to break the illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza to provide humanitarian aid. Speaking on the occasion, Qureshi announced that the coming Friday would be celebrated as a day of solidarity with the Palestinian people and condemning Israel’s actions against them. Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif proposed that the OIC send relief materials immediately through the Red Crescent to help the suffering Palestinians.
