Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has publicly rebuked the country’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Actually, an audio tape of the foreign minister went viral last week, in which he is talking openly about the internal conflict in the country. Kharmani has reprimanded Zarif only for this audio tape. Significantly, due to these statements of the Foreign Minister, there was a disturbance in the politics of the country.
In a televised speech on Sunday, Ayatollah Ali Khamani said that he was shocked and saddened by the remarks made by Mohammad Jawad Zarif regarding the powers and influence of Major General Qasim Sulemani. However, Khamnai did not name Jawad during this time. He said that some of these comments were like hostile talks made by our enemies. This statement matched the words of America.
Avoid repeating the words of enemies: Khamnai
Khamnei referred to US opposition to the growing Iranian dominance in the Middle East, asking why former President Donald Trump killed Sulemani in a drone strike in Baghdad in January 2020. The Supreme Leader said that we should not say such things which prove that we are repeating what they (America) are saying. Then whether it is about the Quds force or the martyr Sulaimani. He emphasized that, like the world over, foreign policy is not made in Iran through the Ministry of External Affairs and it is not simply implemented. Foreign policy in Iran is the responsibility of the Supreme National Security Council, which consists of top officials from different departments.
What was in the audio tape?
In this audio tape, Foreign Minister Zarif said, he had to make a diplomatic sacrifice for the field again and again. Zarif from the field meant Operation and Politics run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The Iranian foreign minister said that he had to face a lot of problems due to Quds force led by Qasim Sulemani. Zarif said that soon after the nuclear deal was signed in 2015, Sulaimani traveled to Russia and tried to end it. Iranian foreigners also complained that they were kept in the dark on a number of issues, including operations in Syria and Iran.
