An American colonel told that several rocket attacks were carried out on the US military in Syria. A day earlier, the US had carried out an airstrike on Iran-backed militia.

US Troops were attacked by rockets in the eastern part of Syria on Monday. There is no report of any casualty in this attack. This attack on American soldiers has come at a time when US Air Force fighter jets did an airstrike close to the Iraq-Syria border a day earlier. Regarding this airstrike, the Pentagon had said that it was the base of Iran-backed militia groups, which were responsible for drone attacks inside Iraq.
The Iraqi Military had condemned the US air strikes. At the same time, militia groups talked about taking revenge from America. Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said the bases were being used by militia groups to launch drone strikes against US troops in Iraq. Earlier this year, the administration of President Joe Biden, who took power in America, took military action in the region for the second time. Biden himself had ordered the US Army airstrike that took place late on Sunday night. Earlier, he had given a similar order in February as well.
US Army also responded to the rocket attack
On the other hand, there is no indication that Sunday’s action would mean a major and widespread US air strike in border areas. But Colonel Wayne Maroto, a spokesman for the US military mission in Baghdad, wrote on Twitter on Monday, at 7:44 pm local time, there were several rocket attacks on US forces in Syria. He said that no one was injured in the attack and the damage caused by the attack is being assessed. Maroto later tweeted that during the rocket attack, the US military in Syria responded with a cannon attack on a rocket launching position in self-defense.
Hezbollah and Sayyid al-Shuhada used these bases
At the same time, John Kirby said that on Sunday the US military targeted three operations and weapons storage facilities. Two of these were in Syria and one in Iraq. Releasing video of strikes carried out by the Air Force’s F-15 and F-16 fighters, the Pentagon identified a target as a coordination center for the shipment and transfer of advanced conventional weapons. Kirby said the airstrikes were defensive and said they were carried out in response to attacks by militia. The Pentagon said these bases were used by Iran-backed militia groups, including Qata’ib Hezbollah and Qata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada.
