Pulitzer Prize-winning Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui was not killed in a shootout in Afghanistan, nor was he a casualty during these incidents, but was brutally murdered after the Taliban confirmed his identity. A US magazine made this claim in a report published on Thursday. Danish Siddiqui, 38, an Indian photojournalist, was on assignment in Afghanistan when he was killed. The award-winning journalist was killed while covering a clash between Afghan soldiers and the Taliban in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar city.

The report states that Danish Siddiqui suffered shrapnel during the attack and so he and his team went to a local mosque, where he received initial treatment. However, as soon as the news spread that a journalist was in the mosque, the Taliban attacked. Local investigation has revealed that the Taliban attacked the mosque due to the presence of Danish Siddiqui.
Taliban kills after confirming identity of Danish Siddiqui
The report states that Danish Siddiqui was alive when the Taliban captured him. The Taliban confirmed the identity of Danish Siddiqui and then killed him and his associates. The commander and the rest of his team died as they tried to save him. Michael Rubin, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, wrote that one widely circulated image showed Danish Siddiqui’s face as recognizable, although I had seen other images provided to me by a government source in India and Siddiqui’s body. Reviewed the video, which showed the Taliban attacking Siddiqui on the head and then ridding him of bullets.
The report said that the Taliban’s decision to attack, kill Siddiqui and then mutilate his body shows that they do not respect the rules of war or global treaties. Danish Siddiqui’s body was brought to the Delhi airport on the evening of 18 July and was cremated at the Jamia Millia Islamia cemetery.
