The situation has started deteriorating since the withdrawal of foreign forces in Afghanistan. The Taliban has rapidly started capturing the major cities of the country. Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s ambassador to India, Farid Mamundzai, has said that his country is facing a serious security challenge and in such a situation he needs India’s help. Mamundzai has also emphasized that India should bring the Taliban to the negotiating table so that the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan can be handled.
In an exclusive conversation with TV9, the Afghan ambassador said, ‘We are facing a serious security challenge. India should push to bring Taliban to the negotiating table. We need current Indian help. We need India’s help for the development of Afghanistan. He said, ‘I do not agree with the US intelligence fraternity that our government will fall in just five months.’
Withdrawal of US security forces weakens the morale of Afghan forces
Fareed Mamundzai emphasized that the US withdrawal must have weakened the morale of the Afghan forces. Mamundzai said, “The American comeback has been random, unconventional, disorganized and chaotic.” Due to this the morale of the Afghan forces has been affected. “The Taliban have the best military technology, but we still have prevented them from capturing 34 major cities,” he said.
Taliban did not honor the commitment made in Doha
The Afghan ambassador said, “Pakistan can also play an important role in bringing the Taliban to the negotiating table.” We want China to play a constructive role as well. “The Taliban have not respected the commitment made in Doha,” he said. They are just prolonging the time. We are going to meet the Taliban once again in Tehran, the capital of Iran. I look forward to taking a small step in the right direction.
Taliban occupation of the country is fatal for modern Afghanistan
Regarding the occupation of Afghanistan by the Taliban, Fareed Mamundzai said, ‘If the Taliban takes over the country, then Modern Afghanistan will suffer the most. A quarter of parliamentarians in Afghanistan are women. We even have women cabinet ministers here. “Turkey can also play a positive role in Afghanistan,” he said. The envoy said, “The areas where India has invested in Afghanistan are being targeted by the Taliban. This is a matter of concern for us.
