Lack of oxygen amid Corona crisis in India
Foreign Media on India’s Covid Situation: New cases and death data coming in record number of Coronavirus in India have posed a big challenge to the government. This crisis is becoming even more deadly due to lack of oxygen, beds and medicines. According to the latest data released on Saturday morning, 3,46,786 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in the country and 2,624 patients have died during this period. The lack of oxygen released for a few days has still not been completely resolved. The situation is very bad in many other cities including Delhi COVID Situation.
Due to lack of oxygen, 20 serious patients died in the Jaipur Golden Hospital in Delhi overnight. This hospital with about 200 patients reached India Oxygen Problem after several hours of delay. Fortiz Hospital in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh tweeted at 12:28 pm that the liquid oxygen in the hospital is on the verge of being exhausted (India Coronavirus Cases Today). The hospital says that there is only oxygen left for two to three hours. Many other hospitals also have a similar condition. This worsening situation of India is being discussed a lot in the foreign media.
‘Rural doctors preparing themselves’
The British newspaper, The Guardian, wrote in the article, “India’s workers are migrating from the cities, due to which rural doctors are preparing themselves to face a ‘devastating’ second wave.” It reads, ‘Migrant workers are moving to villages after lockdown in large number of cities, which is bad news for the doctors there. They know that these people in the crowd will bring with them the COVID-19 strain, which is destroying Indian cities and its record number of cases are coming up.
‘Hospitals are not recruiting patients’
The newspaper writes, “In the rural areas of West Bengal, politicians had rallies last week with a large crowd, there the transition has started to increase.” In this, a doctor from Birham district was quoted as saying, “Few hospitals have empty beds yet and some of these patients are not admitted, no matter how ill they are (India Coronavirus News).” It reads, ‘Even in the big cities of India, the figures of the disastrous second wave of infection in the country are confusing. In rural areas, where more than 80 crore people live, the picture is not clear.
‘COVID’s havoc getting worse’
Al Jazeera, Qatar’s renowned media institute, wrote in the headline, ‘COVID is wreaking havoc in India due to lack of oxygen’. It reads, ‘The government has to struggle to supply oxygen to hospitals. The officials renewed an inquiry regarding the supply of medical oxygen to hospitals, where people are suffocating due to lack of it. Outside the hospitals, long queues of COVID-19 patients and their estranged relatives are lined up. The TV channels here show that an oxygen tanker arrived at Batra Hospital in New Delhi when it issued an SOS saying that there was 90 minutes of oxygen left for 260 patients.
‘Patients are suffocating’
US news agency AP wrote in the headline, ‘In the midst of the surge in cases, due to low oxygen, the infected patients of India are dying. The highest number of corona virus cases in India in the world has set a global record in the last three days. Authorities here on Saturday conducted a fresh investigation to supply medical oxygen to hospitals for COVID-19 patients. There has been a shortage of beds and oxygen in the capital Delhi and the most affected state Maharashtra. The families have to wait for several days till the cremation for the funeral of their relative.
‘Death figures set a record’
Pakistani newspaper Dawn wrote in the headline, ‘The daily daily COVID death figures in India set a new record’. It reads, ‘The daily death toll of the corona virus in India has set a new record on the new Saturday. The government is facing a struggle for oxygen supply to hospitals. Amidst the new wave of virus, the central government has come under criticism for its lack of preparedness for infection. The government is running special trains for the supply of oxygen to the most affected cities. This has put pressure on industrialists to increase production of oxygen and life saving medicines.
