Pakistan started to get out of ‘gray’ list
On the other hand, in order to get out of the ‘gray’ list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Pakistan is preparing to bring new rules in relation to anti-money laundering cases and changes in the prosecution process. This information has been given in a news in the media on Monday. In June 2018, the Paris-based FATF (Financial Action Task Force), a global body monitoring the affairs of money laundering and financing of terrorism, put Pakistan in the ‘gray’ list and since then the country has been trying to get out of it.
The ‘Dawn’ newspaper reported that these changes have included the task of investigating and prosecuting anti-money laundering (AML) cases, from the police, the Provincial Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and other agencies to specific agencies. These are part of two rules, including AML (Seized Asset Management) Rules 2021 and AML (Referral) Rules 2021 which comes under the ‘National Policy Statement on Follow Money’. It has been told in the news that it has been approved by the Federal Cabinet a few days ago.
