The Pentagon’s ‘Defense Security Cooperation Agency’ gave the necessary certification by notifying the US Parliament in this regard on Monday, the statement said. Harpoon is an anti-ship missile. It states that the Government of India had requested to purchase a JCTS. This includes a ‘Harpoon Intermediate Level’ maintenance station, parts and repairs, testing equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training, technical, engineering, and logistics support services on behalf of the US government and contractor, and logistical and program related There are other elements of support involved.
Key to peace in the Indo-Pacific
Its estimated cost is $80 million. The proposed sale will strengthen US foreign policy and national security by improving Indo-US strategic ties and helping enhance the security of a major defense partner (Harpoon Missile US), the DSCA said in a release. The Boeing Company will be the contractor
“The Boeing Company, based in St. Louis, MO, will be its main contractor,” it said. According to Boeing, Harpoon was first deployed in 1977 (US Missile to India). It is an all-weather anti-ship missile system. The Harpoon missile is the world’s most successful anti-ship missile and is serving in the armed forces of more than 30 countries.
