Hailstorms, heavy rain and thunder have battered components of England as forecasters issued a yellow climate warning.
The Met Office alert coated southern England, East Anglia and components of the Midlands – with a radar picture displaying a band of intense rain stretching throughout the nation on Tuesday.
George Dibley, from Basingstoke in Hampshire, stated the rain was “crazy to see and hear” and that it felt like somebody was knocking on his window.
“We got worried at one point that if the hail got any bigger it might damage our car, but thankfully it only lasted a few minutes,” he stated.
Another Basingstoke resident, Sam Middleton-Bray, posted photos and video of huge hailstones falling in her backyard.
“That was some insane weather today here in Basingstoke. I’ve never seen hail that size,” she tweeted.

The climate warning ended at 10pm and forecasters stated the rain would steadily ease by the night time.
Met Office meteorologist Clare Nasir stated they have been “some lively conditions across the south as well as the east” and {that a} danger of rain and hail would persist on Wednesday and Thursday.
