Seven prisoners have died in a Prison Clash between prisoners in a prison in the Central American country of Guatemala. Out of this, six prisoners were strangled to death (Inmate beheaded). Police said that this clash took place between two opposing gangs in this jail in the western part of the country. Officials said the incident took place in the Cantel prison in Quetzaltenango Province where 2,250 prisoners were lodged. Many bodies are seen in the pictures of the scene.

It is not yet clear whether the authorities have been able to control the jail or not. The country’s Ministry of Home Affairs has described the clash in jail as a riot in a statement. It said that initial investigation has revealed that seven prisoners died in this incident.
Violence caused by old enmity
The prosecutor’s office has also confirmed this figure. The jail is located 205 km from the capital Guatemala City. National Civil Police (PNC) spokesman George Aguilar told news agency AFP that the violence was caused by a confrontation between two gangs and at least six prisoners were beheaded. Aguilar said that the authorities suspect that one gang attacked the other in retaliation for an incident that happened a few days ago.
Cantel jail is very crowded
Incidents of clashes have already taken place in the crowded jails of Guatemala. The most common incidents of violence in the Cantel prison. Human rights organizations continue to condemn the pitiable condition of this prison. Police say that this jail was built to keep 500 prisoners in captivity. But it has five times more prisoners than this number. The dreaded gangs of Guatemala are notorious for extortion. They raise money from the merchants and bus operators of the country. Half of the 3500 people killed in violence in the country every year are killed due to these gangs.
