Germany on Monday lifted the travel ban imposed on travelers from India, Britain and three other countries affected by the Delta variant of COVID-19. Germany’s Ambassador to India Walter J Lindner said, “From tomorrow, Germany is removing the entry ban and easier travel rules for the five countries where the Delta variant has appeared. India is also included in these countries. Due to the Delta variant, British PM Boris Johnson has had to delay the removal of the lockdown.
The Robert Koch Institute, the German federal government agency responsible for disease control and prevention, said that India, Nepal, Russia, Portugal and the UK have been removed from the current category of ‘countries of variant concern’. In this way, travel to Germany will be made easier for those travelers who are not residents or citizens of Germany. Till now, only citizens of Germany were allowed to enter the country from ‘Variants of Concern’ countries. During this, even after vaccination, he had to follow the two-week quarantine rules.
There are some new rules like this
Under the new rules, now travelers from countries with ‘Variants of Concern’ will be allowed to enter Germany. On arrival in Germany, passengers will have to show a COVID negative test and stay in Quarantine for 10 days. However, the quarantine period can also be extended up to five days. The new rules will be effective from Wednesday. At the same time, exemption from quarantine can also be given if fully vaccinated. Germany’s Health Minister Jens Spahn said last week that the federal government would look at allowing travelers from countries affected by the Delta variant to travel over the next few days.
Dubai also relaxed travel restrictions
The relaxation of restrictions has been given by Germany at a time when it has been found that the vaccine is affected on the delta variant. Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel said, “We think that in the near future people who have received both doses of the vaccine. They will be able to travel again without going to quarantine. Last month, Dubai eased restrictions on Indian travelers who have received both doses of the vaccine approved by the UAE. The country has approved the vaccine made by Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNtech, Sputnik V and Oxford-AstraZeneca.
