Pakistan Occupied Kashmir News: Pakistan had conducted illegal elections in occupied Kashmir on July 25 and now Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Abdul Qayyum Niazi of his own party as the new Prime Minister here. It was Imran Khan who nominated Niazi for this top post. The extent to which the elections in PoK are fake, you can guess from the fact that here the ruling party of the country is always declared the winner. Whereas the people living in PoK express their displeasure towards the Pakistan government every day.
It was told in the election results that Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has won. On the other hand, Niazi has got 33 votes in the 53-member PoK assembly. While the joint opposition candidate Chaudhary Latif Akbar got 15 lots. Now Niazi will replace Raja Farooq Haider of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, whose term ends on July 30. PM Imran Khan’s party has got 32 seats. This is happening for the first time, when the PTI government is being formed in PoK.
Pakistan has no right over the territory of India
India has categorically rejected these elections and said that holding elections by Pakistan is nothing but an attempt to ‘conceal its illegal occupation’ (India on PoK Elections). India has lodged a strong protest on the issue. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi reacted strongly to the elections in PoK, saying that Pakistan “has no right over Indian territories” and will have to vacate all Indian territories under its illegal occupation.
Elections cannot hide Pakistan’s illegal occupation
He said, “The so-called elections in the Indian territory under illegal occupation of Pakistan are nothing but an attempt by Pakistan to hide its illegal occupation and material changes made by it in these areas (POK Elections Results). This will not hide the issue of illegal occupation of Pakistan and human rights violations, exploitation and deprivation of freedom of the people living in the occupied territories. A day earlier, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had said that the Pakistani PM has chosen Niazi to head the PTI government in PoK after much deliberation.
