Britain minister Lord Tariq Ahmad has said that protests to farmers in India are an internal issue.
There have been reactions from countries around the world about the farmers’ protest in India. But India has made it clear that this is its internal matter and it does not want external interference in it. At the same time, UK Minister Lord Tariq Ahmad has also said that farmers in India are guaranteed the right to protest. This is an internal issue of the Government of India and we should not comment on it.
British Minister Lord Tariq Ahmed is about to visit New Delhi. He said on Friday, India as a democracy has guaranteed the right to protest. In such a situation, the protests of the farmers regarding agricultural reforms is an issue which is completely a matter of the Government of India. Earlier this week a discussion was held in a chamber of the UK Parliamentary Committee on the issue, which India condemned as a complete interference in the politics of any other democratic country. Even British High Commissioner Alex Ellis was called by Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla to meet about that meeting.
Lord Ahmed will visit India on Monday for a five-day visit
Lord Ahmed, Minister of State for Indian Affairs at Britain’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), will begin his five-day visit to India on Monday. He said during a conversation with reporters before his visit, it was a very cordial meeting. This is the first time when they were formally meeting on the issue of protest and discussed it. India has made its position clear, we have also reiterated that the parliamentary system of debate and the nature of our parliamentary democracy should be such that the position of the government can also be kept clear.
Protest case internal to Government of India
Lord Ahmed said, protests have been taking place for several months. As a democracy, India has fully guaranteed the right to protest and has protected it. We fully accept this. I make it very clear that this case of protest is completely a matter of the Government of India. The visit is being seen as finalizing the schedule for an upcoming tour of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is scheduled to visit India ahead of the G7 summit in Cornwall in June. .
