America’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke to his counterparts in Japan and South Korea on Friday on the issue of North Korea. South Korea’s foreign minister arrived in China

Prior to his visit, South Korea’s newly elected foreign minister Chung Ee Yong told reporters that he expected North Korea to be a key issue during talks with China’s foreign minister Wang Yi.
In his opening statement, Wang said that China and South Korea would discuss the process for a political solution to the Korean Peninsula issue as part of the current policy for lasting peace amid the ongoing nuclear impasse between the US and North Korea. Chung said that the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula is a common objective of China and South Korea.
