A massive explosion struck a cargo ship late Wednesday night at the Jebel Ali Port, one of the world’s largest ports in Dubai, which shook buildings around the city’s commercial area. Officials said a ship caught fire at the busiest port of Jebel Ali in the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. After the explosion, the tremors were felt in the walls of buildings and houses up to 25 km from the port. He said that there was no immediate report of any casualty.
It is also the busiest port for US warships outside America. About two and a half hours after the explosion, the Dubai Civil Defense team said they had brought the fire under control and that the cooling process was underway. In footage shared by officials on social media, firefighters are seen dousing the blaze in huge shipping containers. Dubai officials said it was a small ship that could hold up to 130 containers. During the blast, residents of Dubai recorded the incident on camera from high-rise buildings and shared it on social media.

Fire caused by highly flammable material kept in container!
So far, how much damage has been caused to the port by this blast and how much damage has been done to the cargo around the ship. Clear information about this has not come to the fore. Burnt containers, ashes and scattered debris can be seen in videos shared on social media. Looking at the intensity and visibility of the blast, it can be inferred that a highly flammable material was kept here. A Dubai police commander told Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya TV that the fire appeared to have been caused by a container containing flammable material.

Jebel Ali is the world’s largest man-made deep water port
Mona Al-Marie, director general of the Dubai Media Office, told Al-Arabiya that the incident could have happened anywhere in the world and that authorities were investigating the cause. Jebel Ali Port, located at the northern end of Dubai, is the world’s largest man-made deep water port and handles cargo from the Indian subcontinent, Africa and Asia. The port is not only an important global cargo hub, but also a lifeline for Dubai and the surrounding emirate, serving as a point of entry for essential imports.
