Saudi Arabia Crown Prince MBS on India: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia has described the Quran as a constitution. He has said that ‘our constitution is Quran and will continue to be so. This is seen in the basic system of governance, whatever the government, legislature or Shah, all are bound to follow the Quran. He said this in an interview given to National Television (Saudi Prince on India). During this time, he has also spoken on many other issues including India. Taking the name of India, MBS said that his country is working to strengthen relations with India.
He said, ‘America’s economy was 50 percent of the global economy in the 1950s but is now only 20 percent. The picture of the whole world has changed after the second world war. We are trying to strengthen relationships with the rest of our strategic partners. (Saudi Prince on Interview) He has also named various countries and said, ‘We are strengthening our relations with Russia, China, India, Africa and Latin American countries apart from Middle East countries, Britain, France and Europe. All this is being done in the interest of Saudi. Which will not harm anyone.
What did MBS say on income tax?
Saudi Prince said that today China, Russia and India are describing Saudi as their strategic partner. Despite this, we (Saudi Arabia) also have a strategic partnership with the US. Saudi economy has also been affected in the Corona period, in such a situation, it is being said that income tax in Saudi Arabia can be imposed here. But such speculation was rejected by the Prince. However, this country had increased VAT significantly last year and it was increased from five per cent to 15 per cent directly. Which Prince has described as a difficult decision.
Foreign investment will be increased
MBS said that he follows the same conditions in social and private life, which are clearly stated in the Quran. According to Sharia, punishment cannot be done without interpretation. He has given this interview on completion of five years of his vision 2030. In order to reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependence on oil and to increase foreign investment there, one percent share of Saudi state government oil company Aramco can also be sold. MBS on Vision 2030, considered the true ruler of Saudi, said that the shares of two more companies will also be sold. All this is only part of his vision 2030.
90 percent agreed with Biden
After Joe Biden became president in the US, there was also speculation that the US-Saudi relationship would no longer be the same as it was during the tenure of former President Donald Trump. MBS also spoke on this issue. He said he agreed with Joe Biden on 90 percent of the issues (MBS on Relations with US). Issues which are not agreed, are being worked on together. The US stopped the aid being given to Saudi Arabia in Yemen. The Crown Prince said, “Just as the brothers do not agree 100 percent on all issues in the same family, the same happens in governments.”
Objective to reduce oil dependence
They also aim to reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependence on oil. Reducing dependence on oil revenue has been said to be the major goal of Vision 2030, so that the needs of the country’s growing population can be met. Prince said, ‘When Saudi Arabia Oil Reserves were discovered in Saudi Arabia, the population here was 20 to 3 million, which has now increased to close to 20 million. In such a situation, the needs of the people cannot be met only with the revenue of oil. He showed softness towards Iran and said that he wants a good relationship with Iran. So that both countries benefit from it.
