There is a lack of oxygen in Nepal amidst increasing cases of COVID (Nepal Covid Situation). The government said that it is the responsibility of all the hospitals to set up their own oxygen plants.
Increased oxygen shortage in Nepal
Coronavirus in Nepal: The crisis of Coronavirus in Nepal is increasing rapidly in Nepal. The pressure on hospitals has increased due to increasing cases of infection and there has been a huge shortage of oxygen. Here, due to lack of oxygen, patients are facing problems. Officials said that 16 patients infected with COVID-19 have died recently due to lack of oxygen. In Rupandehi district here, a total of 16 patients infected with COVID died in three hospitals on Wednesday due to lack of oxygen.
There have been 4,13,111 cases of fatal infection in Nepal, while 4084 people have died. According to ‘Himalayan Times’ news, on Wednesday, the government has asked private hospitals to get oxygen plants installed in 15 days to meet the demand of oxygen (Oxygen Shortage in Nepal). According to the decision, all hospitals with a capacity of more than 100 beds will have to install their own oxygen plants and the government will provide necessary support in this regard.
15 oxygen cylinders needed
The Ministry of Health and Population said that it is the responsibility of all hospitals to set up their own oxygen plants. Ministry spokesman Dr. Jogeshwar Gautam said, ‘Many private hospitals have not done this, we will help them to set up plants to meet the increasing demand for oxygen for COVID patients.’ The government has estimated that about 15,000 oxygen cylinders are needed to meet the current demand for oxygen (Nepal Coronavirus Report). In contrast, there are only about 8,000 oxygen cylinders in the country.
Hospitals are not recruiting patients
The COVID-19 Crisis Management Center, a top government body to deal with the epidemic, told in Wednesday’s meeting that the country may need 50,000 oxygen cylinders by the end of July. According to the news, on Wednesday, some government hospitals in Kathmandu Valley said that they no longer have oxygen supply for the treatment of COVID patients but they have enough cylinders to fill oxygen. According to ‘My Republica’, at least 12 hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley have announced not to enroll COVID-19 patients due to lack of oxygen.
