A woman from Myanmar’s Insin district says that she had taken a cylinder on rent, which got empty. Her father’s oxygen level has decreased, due to which she has come again to get it filled.
This 24-year-old woman, on condition of anonymity, said, ‘What if we don’t get oxygen and my father dies because of it?’ Another person said that due to the lack of equipment, some people are now using oxygen cylinders from the welding industry. There was a military coup in this country in the month of February, after which the command of the country came in the hands of the army (Military Coup in Myanmar). Deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi has expressed concern over the current situation. Suu Kyi’s lawyer has given this information on Monday.
More than five thousand cases found
On Monday, 80 deaths have occurred due to COVID-19 in Myanmar and 5,014 new cases have been reported. Health experts say that the tests are getting less, in such a situation the rate of infection can be high. The government had controlled the two COVID waves that came before the military coup. A doctor advising COVID-19 patients over the phone said that many people have died in Myanmar because they did not get oxygen on time. Military spokesman Jo Min Tun said during a press conference that officials are making arrangements for treatment of COVID-19 at 14 locations in Myanmar military hospitals (Oxygen Shortage in Myanmar). He said that the oxygen plant is being operated at full capacity. However, black marketing of oxygen is also happening in Myanmar and people are keeping oxygen cylinders in their homes despite not having COVID.
