On Sunday, 1,763 COVID-19 cases of corona were confirmed in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. These are the highest number of corona cases reported on any Sunday so far. These figures are also worrying for Japan because the country is currently struggling to stop the new wave of Corona in the midst of organizing the Olympic Games.
This Sunday’s figure is 755 more than last week and this is the sixth consecutive day when more than 1000 cases have been registered. The average daily new infection cases in Tokyo was recorded at 1453.6, up from 1,068.3 last week. There are 72 COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms in Tokyo, two fewer than on Saturday.
More than 1100 cases in Tokyo on Saturday
On Saturday, a total of 3,574 new cases were confirmed in Japan, including 1,128 in Tokyo, 547 in Kanagawa Prefecture, 345 in Saitama Prefecture, 301 in Chiba Prefecture and 283 in Osaka Prefecture. The increasing cases of Corona can create a hindrance in the conduct of the Olympic Games, which started on 23 July in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. Earlier on Saturday, news came that a severe storm was moving towards Japan’s main island of Honshu, due to which the country, which is organizing the Olympic Games, has started making preparations for the rescue.
Japan started preparations to protect against the storm
All precautions are being taken for the safety ahead of the upcoming events. Powerful Hurricane Nepartak began to rise from about 1,800 kilometers southeast of Honshu on Friday. Now it can reach Honshu in the coming days, due to which there is a possibility of landfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A meteorological forecast shows that the storm is not likely to strengthen further. Since it is close to Japan, there can be strong winds with heavy rain. US-based hurricane experts, Robert Spata, said the meteorological department’s forecast was correct and said that landfall could occur in the event of the arrival or weakening of a tropical storm. Spata says that there is no possibility of a storm here at the moment.
