Cuba Coronavirus Latest Update: Like the rest of the world, there has been an increase in new cases of corona virus infection in the Caribbean country of Cuba and an average of about 6,000 new cases are being reported daily in a country with a population of 10 million (Cuba Coronavirus News). Despite the disastrous economic consequences, the country has so far had fewer infections than other Latin American countries due to measures such as closure of the tourism industry, tighter restrictions and isolation rules.
However, now the number of cases coming here daily has increased and on an average about 6,000 new cases are being reported every day. A total of three lakh cases of infection have been reported in Cuba so far, of which one lakh cases have been reported in the first three weeks of July (Does Cuba Have Coronavirus). Cuba’s national director of epidemiology, Francisco Duran, said on Tuesday that 2,019 people have died from the infection in the country so far, of which only 717 have died this month.

“I feel psychologically affected because we’ve been working for over a year and we’re still not seeing the results we expected,” said Yurijam Martinez, 53, a nurse in Havana. Meanwhile, Cuba is trying to intensify the vaccination campaign (Cuba Coronavirus Cases). Cuba has approved the Abdala and Soberana vaccines. There is a need to apply three doses of both these vaccines. The government said that both the vaccines, especially Abdala, have proved to be very effective.
18.8% of people fully vaccinated
Duran said 18.8 percent of the population had been fully immunized and 30.1 percent had taken at least one dose. Officials say they expect 80 percent of people to be vaccinated by the end of August and children by September (Vaccination in Cuba). In this country, the cases of corona virus were very less last year but now they have become very high. Government media is not sharing much pictures of hospitals. But doctors complain that there is a shortage of oxygen, ventilator and medicines in the country.
