The ‘Chenjigang Chemical Industry Park’ is located in Chenjijang, Jiangsu, where a massive explosion occurred on 21 March 2019 at the existing chemical plant. This chemical plant was known as the Xiangshui chemical plant. The impact of this explosion was so terrible that the windows of the buildings in the surrounding area were broken. This explosion in the chemical plant also opened up the layers of corruption in China.
Plant was fined for not taking care of security
The Jiangsu Chemical Plant was operated by Tianjie Chemical and produced fertilizer and pesticide here. It was reported that organic chemicals were produced in the plant along with some highly flammable compounds. This plant was identified as a garbage plant. Due to pollution, violating the waste management law and not taking care of safety, the plant was also fined six times.

Windows of buildings shattered several km away
In Jiangsu, 21 March 2019 was a common day. But the blast in the chemical plant located here in the afternoon changed everything. According to local time, a tremendous explosion occurred at the chemical plant at around 2.48 pm. After this explosion, there was chaos in the entire area including the plant. The intensity of this explosion was so high that many buildings were shaken in nearby Yangcheng town. The windows of houses and buildings located several kilometers from the plant were shattered.
Earthquake tremors felt by the explosion
Flames were rising from the chemical plant. The fire brigade team managed to control the fire after a lot of hard work. However, by the time the fire was controlled, major damage had been done. The roofs of many houses in nearby towns have blown away due to this blast. The impact of the explosion was so dangerous that the movements of the earth were recorded on earthquake measuring equipment. The process of removing the corpses from the plant continues for several days. At the end of the rescue operation, it was found that a total of 78 people lost their lives in this blast and 617 people were injured.
Plant closed after explosion
The exact cause of the blast at the Jiangsu Chemical Plant could not be ascertained. There was no report of anything unusual in the plant before the explosion. A worker at the plant said that the explosion was due to a fire in the natural gas tanker, which spread to the benzoyl storage tank. But this could not be confirmed. When journalists started using drones to find out the cause of the blast, the local government tried to stop it by using anti-drone technology. At the same time, this plant was closed for future use.
