He said that one patient died of fungus infection in Afghanistan and the infection has been confirmed in two other patients.
Few people wear masks in Afghanistan and social distance is also not followed. Slowly the cases of corona virus infection are increasing here. In the last 24 hours, 1272 new cases of COVID-19 came and 92 people died. In Afghanistan, barely 4,000 samples are tested a day.
beds are full in hospitals
Since the beginning of the epidemic last year, a total of 1,24,757 cases of infection have been reported in the country and 5199 people have died. It is understood that many cases were not even recorded on record. In view of the increasing number of patients in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, the Ministry of Health has arranged hundreds of new beds in hospitals, while in many hospitals all the beds have been filled.
There has also been a shortage of oxygen and people have to wait for several days to get oxygen cylinders filled at some oxygen plants in Kabul. Afghanistan’s 36 million-plus population has so far vaccinated only 2.5 percent of its population due to the disruption of vaccine supplies from the United Nations-backed ‘Kovax’ initiative. Most cases of fungal infection were reported in India and Egypt. ‘Black fungus’ infection was found in COVID-19 patients in Nistan.
