Mehul Choksi traced in Dominica: Fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi, accused in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam, has been taken into custody late on Wednesday. There were reports of his disappearance a few days ago. It has been revealed by the Antigua Media that the CID has taken him into custody in Dominica. Police had been looking for him since he disappeared from the Antiga Shelter three days ago.

Mehul Choksi was afraid of extradition to India. Because of this, he was in the mood to flee Cuba. But before that, the house has been caught. The PMO of Antiga said that we had asked the Dominic government to take Chokusi into custody as he was entering the country illegally. He will be extradited directly to India.
PNB scam accused
Mehul Choksi, along with his nephew Nirav Modi, is accused of cheating Punjab National Bank. The two had allegedly committed a scam of Rs 13,500 crore in association with bank officials. CBI investigation is going on against both of them. Mehul Choksi was in Antiga while Nirav Modi is currently in a London jail. Efforts are also on to extradite him.
Choksi has taken citizenship of Caribbean country
Mehul Choksi also holds citizenship of the Caribbean country. After escaping from India, he came to Antiga. However, there were also reports of cancellation of citizenship received under the investment program in the month of March. But Mehul Choksi’s lawyer rejected it. Antiga Prime Minister Gaston Brown also warned that if he runs away from the country, his citizenship will be revoked. However, it was said that if he had run away from the country, he would have gone by boat because his name was not found in the flight information.
Antiga government is cooperating with India
The government of Antiga and Barbuda is supporting India in this matter. The statement from the police was issued after Choksi’s disappearance, which was later shared with Interpol as well. A red corner notice was also issued against Choksi. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in India has seized assets worth more than Rs 14 crore of Mehul Choksi.
