The new law aired on Friday makes it clear that the Holy See Cardinal and Bishop come under the jurisdiction of Vatican city-based state prosecutors and only need the Pope’s permission to prosecute them. This law has abolished the rule upheld until last year, which said that only the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Tribunal can assess the action against the Cardinal and Bishop accused of criminal misconduct.

Trying to end corruption

About eight years ago, this reform is a sign of the end of corruption and criminal activities in the Holy See. Pope Francis has taken a strong step by allowing him to prosecute his own clergy and cardinals. On Thursday, he passed a separate law, under which the Vatican superiors have to give clear information about their financial situation and prove clean.

No gift more than 40 euro

The Pope has made a law for all that any Vatican employee can take the same personal gift related to work, which does not cost more than 40 Euros. It is believed that setting the price limit on the gift will end the wrong tradition of taking expensive gifts in the priests. Last year, Pope Francis took away all his rights and facilities from Senior Vatican official Cardinal Angelo Baekieu. Now with this latest decision, the way of prosecuting them has also been cleared.
