There have been reports in the past that the Afghan government will kneel after a few months of the withdrawal of US troops. The Taliban has also become more active than before.

The top US general in Afghanistan said on Tuesday that the security situation in the country was deteriorating as the US was going to stop its so-called “everlasting war”. General Austin S. Miller said that the Taliban is increasingly taking over districts in the country, many of which have strategic importance and this is unfortunate.
He also warned that a civil war could break out in the country due to the militia deployed to support the National Security Force. Miller told reporters in Afghanistan that he currently has the weapon and is capable of supporting Afghanistan’s security forces. At the same time, he said that only a political solution can bring back peace in the war-torn country.
Peace will come only through political settlement
He said that only political settlement will bring peace in Afghanistan and it is not just for the last 20 years. In fact it has been for the last 42 years. Miller was referring not only to the American war, but he was also referring to the ten years of Russian occupation that ended in 1989.
That war was followed by a fierce civil war in which some Afghan leaders deployed militias against the Taliban. The civil war gave the Taliban a chance to rise, which seized power in 1996. US officials say US troops will completely withdraw from the country by July 4, but Miller declined to give a time frame.
Taliban rapidly capturing districts
President Joe Biden has given September 11 time and in April he announced that the remaining 2500 to 3500 US troops will be withdrawn by then. Meanwhile, the Taliban are increasingly taking over districts, including many located in the northern part of the country where Afghan minorities live.
Afghanistan today again stands at the same crossroads as it was 20 years ago. After more than two decades of struggle, the clouds of crisis are looming over his future again. After the 9/11 attacks, then US President George W Bush sent his army to Afghanistan to eliminate al-Qaeda. Since then, America has been continuously fighting a war with the Taliban in Afghanistan.
