Tennessee (USA). A nursing home in Arkansas in the US and an Amazon warehouse in southern Illinois were hit by a tornado on Friday night, killing many people and injuring many others in parts of the Midwest and South. Several people are feared dead at the factory in Mayfield, Kentucky. Governor Andy Beshear described the situation as “tragic” at a news conference on Saturday morning.
Beshear said, “At the time the tornado hit there were about 110 people in it. We fear that we will lose at least several of them. These are very difficult times and we are praying for them.”
Police Chief Mike Philback told reporters Saturday morning that at least one person died at an Amazon warehouse in Edwardsville, Illinois. The roof of the building collapsed and the wall of a football field collapsed. Filbach said two people were taken by helicopter to hospitals in St. He said around 30 people present in the building have been taken to the nearest police station for identification.
Meanwhile, Amazon spokesman Richard Rocha said in a written statement Friday night, “The safety and well-being of our employees and partners is our top priority right now.” “We are assessing the situation and will share additional information as it becomes available,” he said.

The TV channel reported that disaster rescuers from Truman and police and firefighters from Jonesboro arrived in the area to help.
The nursing home has about 86 beds. Footage from TV channels in St. Louis showed several emergency vehicles at the Amazon center near Edwardsville, Illinois.
