China Ultra Marathon: Last month, a ‘non-professional’ ultramarathon race was held in the mountainous region of China’s Gansu province, in which 21 participants died due to heavy rain and storm. Now action has been taken against 27 people in this case. They will face disciplinary punishment or criminal charges. The local administration has given this information. The 100 km race was organized on 22 May.
Among the 21 people who died, China’s famous sprinter Jiang Jing was also included. The report of the investigation done in this case was read during a press conference in the capital of Gansu. In which it was said, ‘The standards were not followed in the conduct of this race and it was conducted in an unprofessional manner, due to which this accident has happened.’ A total of 172 people took part in the marathon (China Marathon Tragedy). Out of which 8 also suffered minor injuries, while 151 people were confirmed to be safe.
Senior leaders were also sentenced
Most of the contestants were wearing skinny shorts and T-shirts. According to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency, Chinese Communist Party secretary Su Jun in Baiyin and Baiyin city mayor Zhang Shuchen are among those who will face disciplinary action (Runners Died in China). Schuchen, who was convicted, says that this accident happened due to a sudden change in the weather and the administration immediately formed an investigation team to find out the reason.

People have expressed their anger on Chinese social media. Most people have blamed Bayin’s government for this. They say that the government did not work according to the plan, due to which so many people have lost their lives.
