Big Bounty program has become very popular now. Every big company from Facebook to Google organizes such programs. In such a situation, now Zomato has also given this opportunity to security researchers.
Zomato wants to reward people through this program
As part of its bug bounty program, Zomato has called on security researchers and ethical hackers to find bugs in its website and apps. Zomato noted that its security team will use the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) to decide the severity of the damage. The more serious the threat, the higher the reward or cash reward to the hacker. Zomato has divided the risk relationships into low, medium, critical and high categories.
Zomato said in a statement, “For example, with CVSS 10.0, a user will be rewarded $4,000 if the threat is critical. At the same time, with CVSS 9.5, the user will be awarded $ 3,000 for detecting the threat. Two Factor Authentication has to be enabled to participate in Zomato’s bug bounty program.
The company welcomes researchers and experts
Zomato said that it has increased its reward to $4000 which is around Rs 2.99 lakh for finding a bug in its system. “We at Zomato take security seriously, and we are committed to protecting our community. If you are a security researcher and expert and feel that you have identified security-related issues with Zomato’s website or apps, we would welcome and appreciate it if you shed more light on this issue for us.
Companies like Facebook also run such a program
Bug bounty hunters or ethical hackers have emerged over the years to help tech companies find flaws in their systems. Bug bounty hunters are mostly certified cyber security professionals or security researchers who crawl the web and scan systems for bugs or flaws through which hackers can sneak into companies and alert them. If successful, they are given a cash reward. Tech giants like Facebook and Microsoft organize bug bounty programs rewarding their bounty hunters for helping them improve their systems.
In a statement, the company said that the Zomato bug bounty program is an important part of our security efforts and we hope this improvement will further inspire the hacker community. Thank you for your contribution to our program so far and we look forward to your report!”
