IRCTC ties up with Paytm to sell tickets through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs)
There is good news for the customers transacting through the popular digital payment app Paytm. Now people using Paytm will not have to stand in long queues at stations to buy rail tickets. In fact, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has entered into a partnership with Paytm to sell tickets through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs). Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) have been installed at railway stations across the country. Under this, now tickets can be bought by paying through UPI by scanning the Paytm QR code on ATVMs installed at railway stations.

You can book tickets by scanning the QR code
This is the first time that Indian Railways is offering the option of booking tickets through UPI to promote cashless transactions among passengers. ATVMs installed at railway stations are touch-screen based machines that will allow passengers to make digital payments without smart cards. Passengers can buy unreserved train tickets and platform tickets by scanning the QR code on the screen. Apart from this, you can renew your seasonal tickets and recharge smart cards. Paytm allows passengers to pay through different payment options, including Paytm UPI, Paytm Wallet, Paytm Postpaid (Buy Now, Pay Later), Net Banking, Credit Card and Debit Card.

The QR code-based digital payment solution has already gone live on all ATVM machines at railway stations in India. Paytm spokesperson said, “In India we have ushered in the QR code revolution and we are happy to take it forward to make ticketing easier at railway stations. Through our partnership with IRCTC, we are bringing Paytm QR solution to Automatic Ticket Vending Machines of Indian Railways. Through this, passengers will be able to do completely cashless transactions.

How to use the new digital payment feature on AVTM
- In AVTM located at nearest railway station, select route for ticket booking or enter smart card number for recharge.
- Select Paytm as payment option.
- Scan the QR code on the screen to complete the transaction easily.
- After this a physical ticket will be generated or recharge will be done if you have opted for smart card recharge.
