COVID-19 vaccination appointments on WhatsApp can now be booked by sending the text “Book slot” to the MyGov helpdesk number

After enabling users to download vaccine certificates, the MyGov Corona Helpdesk on WhatsApp will now allow users to locate their nearest vaccination center and book their vaccine-appointment. This was announced by the Union Health Ministry and MyGov on Tuesday.
According to a statement, WhatsApp users across the country will now be able to use the chatbot in English as well as Hindi by sending ‘book slot’ to WhatsApp number +91 9013151515. Abhishek Singh, CEO, MyGov, said in a statement, “MyGov Corona Helpdesk is enabling true digital inclusion as most people find the AI based interface on WhatsApp easy to navigate. We are grateful to WhatsApp for their continued support in helping us unlock the true potential of this chatbot for citizen support and for engagement in trying times of the pandemic.”

To contact the MyGov Corona helpdesk chatbot, citizens can save the WhatsApp number in their phone and start a chat by typing ‘book slot’. It will generate a 6 digit one-time password on the respective mobile phone number.
Users can then select their preferred date and location based on the postcode and type of vaccine. All users can follow this sequence to get their center confirmation and track their vaccination day.
It started as a basic helpline for frequently asked questions during the onset of the pandemic in India and has emerged as one of the most authentic sources of information related to COVID during the pandemic and to over 41 million users. Served as an important instrument in fighting the public-health crisis.
Earlier this month, on August 5, MyGov and WhatsApp also introduced the ability for users to download vaccine certificates from the chatbot and so far more than 32 lakh certificates have been downloaded by users across the country.
