WhatsApp said it received 335 complaints and took action on 21 accounts between February 1 and February 21. Of the total complaints received, 194 appeals were made for the ban, while others were related to support, product support and safety.
“We respond to all complaints, except those where it appears that the complaint has been sent twice or is a duplicate. An account is said to be ‘actioned’ when it is either banned or reverted to an old complaint, according to the complaint. Aadhar is re-activated. The messaging platform said in the report released on Friday.
According to the report, in February, WhatsApp banned 14.26 lakh accounts. Indian account is identified by +91 phone number.
A WhatsApp official said via email, “This user safety report gives information about user complaints and actions taken on accounts. It includes all the steps we have taken to prevent any kind of abusive behavior on the platform.” In the latest report for the month of February, WhatsApp has banned 1.4 million accounts.
