Reuters has reported in its report that three of the astronauts on the mission of private space-flight firm Axiom Space will wear a special electroencephalogram (EEG)-enabled helmet made by ‘Brain.Space’.
Yair Levy, chief executive of ‘Brain.Space’, told the news agency, ‘We know that the body’s indicators are affected by the microgravity environment. It will probably affect the brain and we would like to monitor that. He said that data related to heart rate, skin resistance, muscle mass, among other things, has been collected continuously in programs related to space, but so far nothing has been done on brain activity. This Israeli startup is said to have been involved in 30 experiments, which are associated with an alleged mission to the ISS.
The helmet that the astronauts will wear has 460 airbrushes. As soon as wearing a helmet, they attach to the human skull and do many things for 20 minutes a day. The data from the helmet will be uploaded to the laptop in the space station. This task also involves ‘visual oddballs’. The Israeli startup says this oddball has been helpful in detecting abnormal brain movement.
However, after acquiring the EEG data of the astronauts, the company will compare it. It will be seen what kind of difference there is in human brain activity on Earth and in space. The benefit of this experiment can be found in the coming time for those missions in which astronauts will have to spend a long time outside the earth.
