Apple’s new Face ID technology will now recognize the faces of users even with masks and will immediately open the phone’s lock. Apple is currently testing this feature.
Apple is currently testing this feature
The iPhone 13 is about to launch and we have already seen all kinds of leaks and rumors pointing to an upgrade that will take Apple’s iconic device to the next level. Likely to come with 120Hz promotion display, better cameras and the new A15 Bionic processor, the iPhone 13 will also have a feature that will make it the most suitable smartphone in the world which is face detection. Apple may upgrade Face ID authentication with the iPhone 13 so that it can scan your face even when wearing a mask or glasses.
According to John Prosser’s Front Page Tech, the iPhone 13 will have an upgraded Face ID system, which will have a robust sensor that will allow the phone to scan your face even if you are wearing a mask or glasses on your face. Apple is currently testing this technology internally, where it has asked its employees to use Face ID with masks and glasses.
Face ID is one of the most secure methods of facial recognition that Apple has touted as a part of iPhone privacy. Therefore, it will be very difficult for Apple to adjust its technology for easy authentication. This could also mean that Apple may not launch this feature for the iPhone 13. Because there can be an error in preparing it so soon.
Right now, the iPhone already allows people to unlock it using two technologies. If you’re wearing a mask, the iPhone will detect it and open the passcode screen to unlock. Another technology involves an Apple Watch, which when connected to an iPhone will allow users to unlock the iPhone without removing the mask or entering a passcode, which seems like a way to bypass Face ID. But what Apple is reportedly planning to do with Face ID raises questions about the system’s robustness as the only biometric solution on the iPhone.
Apple abandoned Touch ID on full display iPhones, except the low-cost iPhone SE 2020, from the iPhone X to the latest iPhone 12 Pro. Instead of Touch ID, these devices feature Face ID and this is the default authentication method for everything. There are rumors that Touch ID may return on future iPhones, but that could take time. But Apple will soon have to come up with a solution for masks because people will not stop wearing masks until now.
