WhatsApp’s new privacy policy is constantly criticized. Regarding this, the messaging platform is making every effort to give cleanliness and to reassure the users. Previously, the company gave a full-page advertisement in newspapers and now through the in-app status section, it is assuring the users that the privacy of their chats is not going to come down.
WhatsApp has posted four status in the in-app status section, which are being shown in WhatsApp of every user. However, once you click on these status posts, they disappear from the status feed of the user. They also cannot be seen in view updates. In these states, WhatsApp has said that the company does not read or listen to your private conversations because it is end-to-end and encrypted.
Decision extended beyond three months
Please tell that on not updating the new policy, WhatsApp had said to delete the account of the users after 8 February. After this, many users switched to WhatsApp’s rival apps like Signal and Telegram. WhatsApp downloads started decreasing and rival apps’ downloads started increasing. After the uproar over the new privacy policy, the company has announced that the date of implementation of the new privacy policy has been extended from February 8 to May 2021. Now WhatsApp will ask its users to review the new policy and accept the terms by 15 May.
