Xiaomi said on Tuesday that it has increased the prices of its smartphones in the past few weeks due to supply chain constraints and unexpected hike in shipping charges. These also include the popular smartphone Redmi Note 10.
Redmi Note 10 is possibly the first smartphone from Xiaomi, whose prices have been hiked five times in recent times. The phone was launched in India earlier this year, starting at Rs 11,999. Currently, this entry level smartphone can be purchased for Rs 13,999. It is worth noting that the price of the phone has been increased twice rapidly within a month.

Globally, semiconductor shortages have started affecting India’s top smartphone and smart TV brands. Redmi India Business Head Sneha Tenwala shared a statement over email with Financial Express Online. In this, he said that in the last few months, he has seen shortages in the entire supply chain. He further said that due to the huge shortage in supply as compared to demand, the prices of most of the components used in smartphones, electronics gadgets have been increased continuously.
