Toycathon 2021 was organized on 5th January this year by various departments along with Ministry of Education, Women and Child Development and Ministry of Textiles to crowd-source innovative toys and game ideas.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with the participants of Toycathon 2021 and said that tradition and technology are the biggest strengths of India.
Modi said, “Students, teachers and startups have enthusiastically participated in Toycathon 2021. The participation of over 1,500 teams during the first grand finale of this event indicates a bright future. This event also strengthens the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.” Along with this he appreciated the participants from Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana etc for presenting their digital toy ideas based on the history, mythology of India and the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
With this, the Prime Minister once again reiterated his earlier remarks where he appealed to the youth of the country to be self-reliant and bring local solutions in the world of toys and digital gaming. He said that toys and games affect our mental strength, creativity and our economy. We all know that the first school of a child is his family. But his first book and first friend are his toys.
Let us inform you that Toycathon 2021 will be held on January 5 this year to crowd-source innovative toys and game ideas, Ministry of Education, Women and Child Development, Ministry of Textiles, Department for Promotion of Textile and Internal Trade, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, MSME It was jointly launched by the ministry and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The event was attended by 120,000 people from across the country and 17,000 ideas were submitted out of which 1,567 were included for the final event which was held from 22 to 24 June. A team with digital toy ideas has been included in this and there will be a separate offline event for non-digital toy ideas.
The Center said in a statement, “India’s domestic market as well as the global toy market offers a huge opportunity for our manufacturing sector. Toycathon-2021 aims to boost the toy industry in India to help it capture a wider share of the toy market.” At the same time, the Prime Minister said that India’s share in the $100 billion global toy market is only $ 1.5 billion and we import 80 percent of the toys which need to be changed.
