According to news agency AP, Marina and Florian are now interested in NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and are looking to sell their family’s 1,010 ceramic works as digital artpieces. Many small artists have become millionaires overnight through NFT. Non-fungible tokens are currently becoming a way to make quick money by selling art digitally. His family’s promoters say that Picasso’s foray into the world of NFTs will mark the Grand Master’s entry.
The report further states that Picasso’s great-grandson Florian says that “we are trying to make a connection between the NFT world and the world of fine art.”
Marina and Florian showed only one piece of the artpiece attached to the NFT, which is a ceramic piece in the shape of a large bowl. Marina Picasso says that this piece is from October 1958, when she was a child.
Cyril Noterman, long-time manager of Florian Picasso and the project’s publicist, Kathryn Frazier, told The Associated Press that Sotheby’s would host an auction in March, featuring a special NFTs as well as the actual ceramic bowl will be included.
However, the agency says Sotheby spokesman Matthew Floris contacted the AP on Wednesday and said in a statement that “Sotheby has clarified that it will not sell NFTs of Pablo Piccaso’s artpieces.”
Notterman and Frazier say that online sales of more than 1,000 other NFTs through the Nifty Gateway and Origin Protocol platforms are starting today, ie Friday.<!–
