Facebook-owned WhatsApp may reportedly roll out the multi-device feature on the stable iOS version of the app. GSMarina reports, users of the latest version 2.21.180.14 of WhatsApp for iOS, who have enrolled in the beta program, will now see a multi-device prompt under the Linked Devices section within Settings. With multi-device support, you don’t have to keep your phone online.
To enable multi-device beta on iOS, update to the latest update version from the App Store and select Multi-device prompt from the Linked devices section. Now, just like on WhatsApp Web, just scan a QR code from your phone. In addition, WhatsApp has also started testing a new in-app business directory feature to allow users to find local shops and services on the app in Brazil. Nowadays, this feature is being tested in Sao Paulo and the company will soon expand this feature to users in India and Indonesia.
Facebook acquired WhatsApp in 2014 in a $19 billion deal, but the platform had no model to monetize its millions of daily active users. The company is now looking at different ways to generate revenue, but hasn’t ruled out in-app ads.
Soon WhatsApp users will be able to hide online status
WhatsApp will reportedly allow users to hide their online status from people who cannot be trusted. As shown in WABInfo, new privacy tools are being developed to control who can see a user’s profile. It has been said in the report that right now your last seen, profile picture and about can be seen by either everyone, your contacts, or no one. There is no better option for this.
These limits will be removed soon as WhatsApp is now testing the feature to make the particular contact not able to see your about. With this option, users will be able to hide their last seen time from selected people without completely disabling it. This option will also support profile photos and bios, offering more control over privacy than what was offered earlier.
