Soon you will have to add ‘0’ to make a call from landline to mobile phone. To implement this new system, the telecom department has asked companies to make necessary arrangements by January 1. The department has accepted the suggestion of the regulator TRAI of the sector to put 0 ahead for such calls. With this step, there will be enough numbers for telecom services.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) said in a circular on the change in the dialing pattern of fixed mobile numbers from fixed line numbers, that the Department’s recommendations to the TRAI on 29 May 2020 to ensure adequate numbers for fixed line and mobile services Has accepted.
Users have to provide this information
It has been said in this circular that these instructions should be implemented. Fixed to mobile calls should be further dialed with 0. Appropriate declaration should be made in the fixed line switch, so that the fixed line subscribers need to dial 0 for all fixed to mobile calls. The department has given this information in the circular issued on 20 November.
It states that the declaration should be run whenever the subscriber dials the mobile call from the fixed without first putting 0. The circular given on the DoT website states that ‘0’ dialing facilities should be made available to all fixed line subscribers. Which is STD dialling facility. DoT said that companies providing all telecom services have time till January 1 to implement this new system. Further, the department said that its compliance will have to be informed.

TRAI gave suggestions in May
Please tell that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in May this year suggested dialing the mobile number from the fixed-line number first to dial 0. However, the regulator said that the decision to add the number to a call first is not to increase the number of the telephone number. TRAI also said at the time that a change in dialing pattern would create 2,544 additional number of resources for mobile services that would meet future needs.
