According to Nokia’s website, Nokia X20 and Nokia X10 smartphones will be coming to India soon. However, HMD has not teased anything regarding the launch of the phone yet.
Nokia X20
Expanding its smartphone portfolio, HMD introduced the Nokia X20 earlier this year in Europe and a few other markets. The Nokia X20, along with the Nokia X10, has also joined the Nokia 8.3 5G in the company’s 5G phone category. As far as 5G phones are concerned, HMD did not share plans for India and that is because the company is not as active in India as its Chinese rivals. This is the reason why HMD still does not have a 5G phone in India. Although this may change soon.
According to the company’s website, Nokia X20 and Nokia X10 are coming to India soon. Although it is not explicitly declared, there is a section in the website of Nokia Mobile which talks about the SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) of the mobile phone. This website has a list of phones with their SAR price listed for a particular market. Now, Nokia X20 and Nokia X10 smartphones have been included in this list. India has been selected in the dropdown on the company’s website, as seen by NokiaMob. The SAR values of Nokia X20 and Nokia X10 have been given which are in compliance with the parameters set by the Department of Telecom.
SAR details of phone models added to the website
Not just X20 and X10, the website also includes Nokia G20, Nokia G10, Nokia C20 and Nokia C10 phones.
A mere reference to the phone on the page for people to cross-check whether their phone meets the Indian government’s SAR requirements is enough to state that the company has either launched the phone in India or It is going to launch soon. Now that Nokia X20, Nokia X10, Nokia G20 and all new phones with their SAR values are available on the website, it is safe to assume that HMD is planning to launch all the phones in India soon. However, HMD has not teased anything about the launch of the phone yet and looking at the company’s track record in India, there is no rush to bring the phone to India.
HMD’s approach to launching the smartphone in India is not in a hurry and the company needs to change it immediately. No 5G phone has come from Nokia in India yet, while almost every other brand has launched 5G phones here despite the unavailability of 5G network in India. This sluggish attitude led to a significant decline in sales of Nokia smartphones in the first quarter of 2021. A report by Counterpoint Research showed that shipments of Nokia smartphones in India declined by a whopping 38.5 percent in the first quarter of 2021.
HMD has not yet announced any plans to bring Nokia X20 and other phones but the website is pointing towards the launch of this phone only.
