This news has come at a time when many users who are upset with the new privacy policy of Facebook-owned WhatsApp, are moving towards safer options like signals. The controversial new service of WhatsApp is to be implemented from 15 May 2021.
Facebook co-founders’ data leaked
Facebook’s co-founders Chris Hughes and Dustin Moskowitz were also among the affected users, whose personal data has been leaked on the forum. Walker said the data breech also included Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s contact, among 533 million others. He wrote on Twitter, “The irony about 533M people’s Facebook leaks is that Mark Zuckerberg has also been included in the leak.”
According to another security expert Alon Gall, the data was leaked in 2020, which was able to see the phone number associated with each Facebook account. Facebook noted that this is an old data that was reported in 2019. We fixed it only in August 2019. At the same time, Facebook has not given any statement on the data leak of Zuckerberg at the moment. However, according to Gail, despite that defect being corrected, it can provide valuable information to cybercriminals.
