Jeff Bezos is all set for suborbital flight aboard his aerospace company Blue Origin’s New Shepard launch vehicle today (July 20). History-making civilian Karoo will be involved in space flight. The launch of the 11-minute journey to space is planned from a desert site in West Texas, US.
If all goes according to plan, New Shepard will take off at 5 p.m. IST from Blue Origin’s launch site One Facility, located about 20 miles (32 km) outside Van Horn in Texas, US. The New Shepard is a 60-foot-tall (18.3 m) fully automatic rocket-and-capsule combo that cannot be operated from inside a spacecraft. The spaceflight company tweeted a picture of the crew after the completion of training.

Before the launch, Bezos also completed the interview round on TV. Bezos said, “People keep asking if I’m nervous. I’m not really nervous, I’m excited. I am curious. I want to know what we are going to learn.”
Bezos will be joined by his younger brother Mark Bezos, 82-year-old Wally Funk and 18-year-old Oliver Damon. Jeff Bezos described Mark Bezos as his “best friend” in his Instagram post announcing the trip to space. Funk was the first female flight instructor at a US military base and the first woman to become an air security investigator for the National Transportation Security Board.
