ISRO-OPPO India Deals: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has joined hands with the Indian unit of the Chinese smart device maker Oppo. Under this partnership, NavIC will work on strengthening the Research and Development (R&D) of the messaging service. Navic System is a system developed by ISRO to provide regional navigation services and cover an area of about 1500 km on Indian land and beyond. Apart from this, its main function is to provide PNT (Position, Navigation and Timing) services. Short messages can be broadcast through Navigator.

Under the agreement between ISRO and Oppo India, technical know-how related to Navic messaging services will be transacted to create fast, ready-to-use, end-to-end application specific solutions. For this, the Navik messaging service will be integrated with the mobile handset platform and the needs of Indian users will be taken care of. The messaging service is mainly used for transmission of life safety alerts in areas where communication facilities are either not available or are very weak. It is mainly used in sea areas.

Tasleem Arif, Vice President of Oppo India and Head of R&D India, said that his company will strengthen ISRO through its industry-leading R&D capability and this will provide an immersive user experience to the users using the Navik application. Oppo India’s manufacturing plant is located in Noida and the R&D center is located in Hyderabad. According to a statement issued by Oppo India, ISRO Chairman K Sivan has appreciated this effort and expressed his desire to Oppo India to include Nauak in its upcoming products.
