Apple has announced a new service program for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro users to resolve audio problems on their devices. The Cupertino-giant has mentioned that a small portion of the 6.1-inch devices, including the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, may face audio problems. Audio problems can come up while making calls and many users have already reported similar problems with their iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
Apple has said that the phones that were developed in October 2020 and April 2021 are facing this problem. However, the new service program will replace the defective earpiece for free. “Apple has determined that a very small portion of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may experience audio problems due to a component that may fail on the receiver module,” Apple said on a support page.
According to the company, the affected device was developed between October 2020 and April 2021. If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro does not emit audio from the receiver when making or receiving calls, it may have to be serviced.
Users can get the device repaired for free
Users can get their Apple device repaired for free from Apple or Apple’s authorized service provider. Notably, only the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are part of this service program. The iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max models are not part of this program.
To check your phone’s earpiece, first search for an Apple Authorized Store and make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store. You can also contact Apple Help to arrange mail-in service through the Apple Repair Center. Remember to back up your iPhone to iCloud or to your computer before giving your phone in for service.
In some cases extra payment will have to be made
Apple has said in its support page that if the candidate iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro has any glitches that can cause repair problems, such as a cracked screen, the user will have to get the problem fixed before giving the phone for service. In some cases, an extra payment may be required for repairs.
Apple said, “Apple may restrict or limit repairs in the original country or purchase area. This worldwide Apple program does not extend to standard warranty coverage for the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro. This program covers affected iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro devices for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.”
