In an online webinar organized by Financial Times and The Indian Express, Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the 5G spectrum auction is likely to take place in the second quarter of 2022. Regarding 6G, he has claimed that India is aiming to launch this technology in late 2023 or early 2024, and scientists and engineers working on this technology have already been given the requisite permissions.
He said (translated) “The development of 6G has started. The deadline is set somewhere in 2024 or 2023—the end. we in india [खास] Will design telecommunications software that will service telecommunications devices and telecommunication networks manufactured in India, and go global.”
As we mentioned, apart from 6G, he also made a statement about the launch of indigenous 5G. He says that this technology can be launched by the third quarter of next year with the development of a specific software. For this, the auction of 5G spectrum is also likely to be held in the second quarter of 2022.
Ashwini Vaishnav in the webinar said (translated) “A reference has been made to TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) for auction of 5G spectrum. They have started the counseling process. This process should be finished in the February-March time frame in the coming year. Then the auction process will take place in the second quarter of the calendar year 2022.”<!–
