This big change happened after Bill Gates left the board
Microsoft has said that the current chairman will now serve as an independent director of the company. He took over in 2014 after Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates stepped down as chairman. This change is being seen at the top level in the company only a year after Bill Gates stepped down from the board. Bill Gates left the board saying that he would now focus on the philanthropy work of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is one of the largest charity organizations in the world.
Bill Gates left the board due to relationship dispute?
Microsoft said last month that it had investigated Bill Gates’ 20-year-old relationship with an employee of the company. In 2019, the company was told that Bill Gates had started trying to have a romantic relationship with that employee. When Microsoft was asked whether it had asked Gates to leave the board for the same reason. But Microsoft did not respond to this.
